In 2012, I attended the Passion Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. That is where I was first told that there were more than 27 million people trapped in modern day slavery. Twenty. Seven. Million. People. And not only were they enslaved in other countries but HERE in America. But not just in America, there were individuals trapped in slavery in my own hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee. I was immediately devastated, and a fire and passion for the counter-trafficking movement was sparked in my heart that day that will never be extinguished.
